Wednesday’s Featured Blogger is Kaleena from Reader Voracious Blog. The best thing about blogging is that you can make friends from all over the world! Kaleena is based in California… A bit different to Aberdeen!
Here’s her answers:
Who are you? Kaleena
What’s your blog address? http://readervoracious.wordpress.com
What’s the name of your blog? Reader Voracious Blog
When did you start? March 2018
WHY did you start? I’ve always been a big reader but kind of fell out of pleasure reading during university. I found that passion again while traveling abroad after graduation and began reading more voraciously. Last year I began writing reviews on Goodreads and I felt like I found a part of myself that I was missing — I enjoy reading closely, taking notes, and writing out my opinions. (That’s probably why my degrees are in the Humanities.) I thought about creating a book blog for almost a year before finally taking the plunge because I really wanted to connect with other readers and share our experiences. Not many people in my life read, but it is such a big part of me and I wanted to share that passion with the world.
What sort of posts do you feature? I currently post four times per week, but I am going to be upping it to five on August 1! I post spoiler-free book reviews (science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, and mystery/thriller with the occasional historical fiction thrown in), a weekly quote reflection called Sentranced Saturday, blogger tags and awards, as well as the occasional blogger guide. My guides on Edelweiss and Blogger Templates are by far my most popular, and I am working on monthly guides in this vein!
Ever made yourself a blanket fort? Yes! A couple years ago, I had my friends come over the weekend of Halloween (my FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR) with pillows and blankets. We turned my living room into a giant blanket fort and watched scary movies. We were 30 at the time and it is one of my favorite memories.
What 3 essentials would you have in your Blanket Fort? Books, tea, and dark chocolate!
Blogging can be a very personal thing… have you told your friends and family that you have a blog? A few of my close friends know about my blog, and my best friend actually follows it. I am proud of this hobby of mine.
What are your passions, what makes you happy? This is such a good question! I am passionate about giving back to others and now work in the philanthropic sector as a fundraiser for higher education, a career that I find incredibly fulfilling. I love the outdoors and am passionate about the preservation of the environment in addition to hobbies of hiking, camping, and backpacking.
Describe your happy place for us. Outside in nature. My happy place is fleeting because I am constantly finding it in unexpected places; sometimes I will go for a walk on the campus’ arboretum trail and the way the wind brushes against my skin will bring a calm over me, other times I am at the beach with my toes in the sand listening to the sound of waves crashing on the shore. If I am outside among nature, it is my happy place.
Last one – If you were a sweetie… what would you be? I don’t know what this means… is this a British candy I am unfamiliar with? *** after a brief explanation*** Aero bars because I am hard(ish) on the outside but full of fluffy goodness inside!
