I was gifted this book by one of the dear friends I have made through book blogging, the absolutely lovely Hannah at hannnahsbookshelf.wordpress.com
Everything I Know About Love had been on my radar before this but not as a book I ever intended reading. As much as I dislike the term ‘chick-lit’ this is what I had Everything I Know About Love down as and as a result probably would never have picked it up myself.
How wrong I was.
Everything I Know About Love is the story of Dolly’s late teens through into her late 20’s. With university stories, drink, drugs, late nights, tales of her (really quite disastrous) love-life and so much love for the friends she makes and who see her through the transition from teen to young woman Everything I Know About Love had me nodding along, laughing at the 90’s references to MSN messenger and how it ruled our lives and even *almost* shedding a tear with Dolly and her friends when tragedy stuck them. This book is wickedly funny and unfortunately perfectly depicts what it was like growing up in the late 90’s early 00’s… Dolly has written a gem of a book – it’s one of those books that women will read and recommend to their friends for years to come.
I can’t thank Hannah enough for passing this book to me. I loved it so much I’ve now given it to one of my close friends to share the love. It’s a book that every 30 -40ish year old woman will read and wonder if it was written just for them.
