Say hello to Derbyshire Duckie! The first Featured Blogger to make a blanket fort especially for this feature – pics below! Thanks so much for agreeing to take part!
You can find her on Twitter @DerbyshireDuck
Who are you?
I go by derbyshire duckie! (Or you may see me on Facebook as birdie shorticus) I love birds as you can tell from my names! I’m a 40 something mum of 2 that should probably know better but I seldom do. I’m on the shorter side of short which my kids always rib me about. My daughter is the actual derbyshire duckie in our house as I was born in Liverpool but I love the derbyshire way of life! The peaks and moors with their luscious greenery & purple heather it’s so relaxing & accessible. (But Liverpool is great too just In a more architectural way!)
What’s the name of your blog?
My blog is called Derbyshire Duckie. You can find me at http://www.derbyshireduckie.com/
When did you start?
I started to blog in June 2018
WHY did you start?
I had the idea mulling around in my head for a while, but my husband actually set it all up without me knowing for a birthday surprise!
What sort of posts do you feature?
I post about places that I have visited & photographed. Sometimes I use the photos I’ve taken, sometimes I take the photos & reimagine them into more abstract designs. There are links from some of the photos to a site where you can purchase gifts with the images on. Am I allowed to say it’s (redbubble.com/people/derbyshireduck if not feel free to delete that bit!)
Ever made yourself a blanket fort?
It’s the summer holidays so I make at least one a week but I’m never allowed to be in it alone! That’s cool though, it sometimes gives the kids some quiet time to talk to me about what’s going on with them! I began knitting 2 years ago & sometimes we even use blankets I’ve made to create our comfy abode!
What 3 essentials would you have in your Blanket Fort?
A good book, head torch & (daughter says soft cuddly teddies) I would opt for a coffee!
Blogging can be a very personal thing… have you told your friends and family that you have a blog?
I was a bit shy In the beginning, & a lot of them don’t really understand what I’m talking about but as my confidence grows I am telling more people.
What are your passions, what makes you happy?
I love birdwatching and being able to get out into the countryside. I also help out at a school in the library which is fab as I get to read cool books & talk to people who love what they read.
Describe your happy place for us.
I think this changes depending on what kind of happy I’m after. Happy is lying in bed with a kid under each arm reading a story to them, or breathing in fresh air & breathtaking views on the peaks, or baking in the kitchen, or reaching the end of a satisfying book. I’m probably a bit of a clichè, but I’m happy with that!
Last one – If you were a sweetie… what would you be?
Probably an extra strong mint. Sweet with a hint of mischief yet strong enough to blow your mind at times!
