WHEN IT COMES TO VENGEANCE, AGE IS JUST A NUMBER
Gloria Jones has had enough. She’s sixty-five, approaching retirement, and nearing the end of her tether. If she gets abused in the street by another toerag, someone’s going to swing.
When Gloria collects a gun she saw being thrown into her local park, her decision to turn it in is quickly scuppered after she’s attacked on her way to the police station. Using the gun to make her attackers back off, she accidentally pulls the trigger, and ends up killing them both. In that moment, her life changes forever.
As she struggles to come to terms with what she’s done, Gloria begins to realise there is injustice all around and finds herself transforming from a shy, peaceful woman into a confident and ruthless vigilante, determined to help victims of crime unable to defend themselves. And so begins a three-month campaign, taking revenge against violent criminals up and down the country, helping those who can’t help themselves.
After all, who’s going to question a little old lady just going about her business? Turns out, quite a few people, on both sides of the law, and one in particular seems to know exactly what she’s been up to.
Online Blanket Fort Review
A book about a renegade pensioner you say? Oh, all right then I’ll read it (there was no persuasion required really).
Massive thanks to Red Dog Press for my review copy and I am absolutely delighted to kick off the Blog Tour for Bang Bang, You’re Dead by Evan Baldock.
Gloria is approaching retirement. A widower who has also buried her son, she lives alone in West London. She lives a content life – playing bridge, lunching with friends, having a sly puff out her window while watching the world go by. That is until local drug dealers and their customers get a little too ‘friendly’. Within the space of a week Gloria is mugged and witnessed a shooting on her street. This is the final straw.
What follows is a romp across England with Gloria acting as judge and jury for the scum she comes across.
A completely unbelievable story of one elderly woman’s crusade to right the wrongs in society and ultimately discover who she really is. My Mum is the same age as Gloria and she often says she feels invisible as a woman over the age of 60… Evan has hit gold with his heroine, you can’t catch someone who is invisible after all, can you?
Bang Bang, You’re Dead is a silly, hilarious and highly enjoyable novel, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Recommended for those moments when you just want something fun to read.
Bang Bang, You’re Dead is Evan Baldock’s debut novel and it published by Red Dog Press TODAY!
